On 4 October 2025, the IET Malaysia Local Network proudly hosted the Prestige Lecture and Award Dinner 2025 (PLAD2025) at Pullman Kuala Lumpur, bringing together a vibrant community of engineers, technologists, and changemakers.

This year’s theme, “Harnessing Responsible AI as a Catalyst in Engineering and Technology for Youth and Societal Empowerment,” sparked powerful conversations on the ethical advancement of technology and its role in shaping a better future.

Welcome Address

The evening began with a warm and inspiring welcome from Ms. Toni Allen, Chief Engagement & Growth Officer at The IET, setting the tone for a night of celebration and reflection.

Prestige Lecture Highlight

We were honoured to host YBhg. Professor Emeritus Datuk Ts. Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah binti Tapsir, FASc., President of the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) and Group CEO & Vice-Chancellor of UCSI University, who delivered a thought-provoking lecture titled: “Responsible AI Across 24 Technology Disciplines: Shaping Malaysia’s Youth and Society.” Her insights illuminated the transformative potential of AI when guided by ethical principles and a commitment to societal progress.

Celebrating Excellence

Two prestigious awards were presented to honour outstanding contributions in engineering:

  • IET Malaysia Outstanding Young Professionals Award
    Recognising emerging engineers for exceptional leadership and innovation.
  • IET Malaysia Women Engineer Award
    Celebrating the impactful achievements of women engineers in advancing the profession and serving society.

Special Guest Speeches

We were privileged to hear congratulatory remarks from distinguished guests:

  • Mr. Ajay Sharma CMG, British High Commissioner to Malaysia
  • Mr. David Neufeld, Regional Head of Corporate Solutions, Asia Pacific, British Council

Their words of encouragement added great significance to the evening and reinforced the global importance of responsible innovation.
