On 4 October 2025, the IET Malaysia Local Network proudly hosted the Prestige Lecture and Award Dinner 2025 (PLAD2025) at Pullman Kuala Lumpur, bringing together a vibrant community of engineers, technologists, and changemakers.

This year’s theme, “Harnessing Responsible AI as a Catalyst in Engineering and Technology for Youth and Societal Empowerment,” sparked powerful conversations on the ethical advancement of technology and its role in shaping a better future.

Welcome Address

The evening began with a warm and inspiring welcome from Ms. Toni Allen, Chief Engagement & Growth Officer at The IET, setting the tone for a night of celebration and reflection.

Prestige Lecture Highlight

We were honoured to host YBhg. Professor Emeritus Datuk Ts. Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah binti Tapsir, FASc., President of the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) and Group CEO & Vice-Chancellor of UCSI University, who delivered a thought-provoking lecture titled: “Responsible AI Across 24 Technology Disciplines: Shaping Malaysia’s Youth and Society.” Her insights illuminated the transformative potential of AI when guided by ethical principles and a commitment to societal progress.

Celebrating Excellence

Two prestigious awards were presented to honour outstanding contributions in engineering:

  • IET Malaysia Outstanding Young Professionals Award
Recognising emerging engineers for exceptional leadership and innovation.
  • IET Malaysia Women Engineer Award
Celebrating the impactful achievements of women engineers in advancing the profession and serving society.

Special Participation

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Colin Sellers, Head of Professional Recognition at The IET, and his dedicated teammates Glenn Atkins and Natalie Wayman, for their valued presence and support. We were also delighted to welcome Sara Killingworth, Director of Portfolio & Product Management (PPM) at The IET — your participation added great value to the evening.
