    The West Yorkshire Local Network Prizes for Student Excellence have now been belatedly (due to corona virus restrictions) awarded for the year 2020.     This third edition of ICMS recognises the criticality of consistently reporting carbon emissions if a disaster caused by global climate change is to be averted. By providing a common reporting framework for capital costs, life cycle costs and carbon emissions, it allows their interrelationship to be explored, and provides the data to make decisions about the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the built environment that optimises environmental sustainability.  In addition to extending the use of ICMS to carbon emissions, the Standard Setting Committee has taken this opportunity to add five new project types: ‘Offshore structures’, ‘Near shore works’, ‘Ports’, ‘Waterway works’ and ‘Land formation and reclamation’ as well as making minor modifications in response to feedback received…

    The Background to the Book Many public domain standards and company documents exist to guide the design of the earthing and bonding of AC railway electrification systems but in practice there remains both gaps, overlaps and conflicts between them. Therefore, it is not uncommon for the designs to follow discipline specific scope rather than being holistic in their approach. The complexity of integrating the earthing of a 25kV electrified railway with various electrical distribution systems and exposed conductive parts, means that it is impossible to prescribe one earthing and bonding design solution that addresses the needs of every railway.
