  • Rail Innovation & Development Centre - Voucher Scheme

    We’ve been asked to help publicise the following scheme, a joint initiative for Network Rail who with the Enabling Innovation Team (EIT) which is itself funded by RSSB, to provide subsidised testing at the Rail Innovation & Development Centre (RIDC) Tuxford and Melton. For a fee of £750 qualifying companies and Academic Institutions get up to 2 days of Network Rail Engineering experts’ time and up to 5 days of testing in a safe, controlled, representative environment. The benefits of this cost effective and realistic approach is quick response and low risk collaboration with Network Rail providing an honest view of viability of a product or service. For non-qualifying companies or if testing exceeds the parameters of the scheme they offer testing in the same environment at commercial rates…

  • Cockpit complete for 1,000mph Bloodhound Car

    Just spotted this on the BBC News . Looks like Bloodhound have now built and fitted out Andy Green's cockpit for the World Land Speed Record bid. The car is now approximately a year away from full aseembly, ahead of the plan to break the record in the Autumn of 2015.

Here he tells us a little more: University of Science Malaysia (USM) was established in 1969 and is the second oldest public university in Malaysia. There are three campuses: Penang island (main campus), Nibong Tebal (Engineering) and Kelantan (Health Sciences). USM is having an enrollment over 28,000 postgraduate and undergraduate students in 2009.     We put out a request for speakers, on My Community, to volunteer at this event a couple of months ago and thought that you may like to see how it turned out. ''This event provided strategy for improving and encouraging STEM at early stage for younger girls to enable them make an early decision within STEM career. Most students who attended the event heard about the event in schools, online, communities, organisations and on the web. The STEM Event welcomed 35 students from different schools from age 11 and above. A valuation was completed by the students and majority seemed to have enjoyed the event. The Event was attended by 35 students aged 11 to 18, Aberdeen Lord Provost represented By Counsellor Alan, who gave a speech on government contribution and efforts towards increasing the number…

  • Scooter Suitcase

    A Chinese farmer has invented a combined suitcase/scooter. It can carry two passengers, although I wonder how you'd decide how much clothing etc each person would have especially as it weighs 15lb when empty. Better to have one each! The scooter case can cover distances of up to 37 miles and maintain a speed of 12mph. See here for further information on City Cab as its being dubbed. Can you see yourself using one of these to your local airport? It would be handy at the other end if there's long queques for the taxis.
