All in all I have around 8 years of experience, aminly in the Oil and Gas Industry.

I recentely joined the IET as a member and I am working towards getting my Professional Registration, but I haven't started my application yet. I am just finding my way through the Career Manager and to be honest I need a lot of help.

    Regards.

    Fely

  • Hi Felymar,

You mention that you're working toward professional registration - have you registered with the IPD Service yet?  You can submit an Intent to Register through Career Manager.

There are a lot of ways to find out about Career Manager - we have some training films that might help and you can find these at: www.theiet.org/cm-training.  If you have any specific questions about Career Manager or working toward professional registration then you can contact us at: profdev@theiet.org.

Does anyone else have any hints and tips using Career Manager that they can share with Felymar?

  • Felymar.  If there is nobody at your company who is professionally registered and you have not spoken with anyone about becoming registered, ask the IET to see a professional registration advisor.  I am sure there will be a PRA that lives near to where you work.  A PRA will explain the mechanics of becoming registered and also the details you need to provide in the application.   A PRA will be able to work with you and ease you through what can sometimes be an onerous process.

    Regards

  • Hi Ross,

If you live in the Portsmouth area - guessing as you work for BAE SYSTEMS - the Solent Network has an active YP section and I know are always keen for new members to get involved.  You can also help shape what they do by getting involved.  Their community area is: https://communities.theiet.org/communities/home/173.

Let me know if you would like an introduction to them.

    Kind regards

  • Hello

    IET Professional Development Community

My name is Nouman Abid Chuhan HND Engg B.Tech Hons IEng MIET.  I am from Pakistan.  I think that i am the first Incorporated Engineer from Pakistan having B.Tech Hons Degree.  My area is Electronics & Telecommunications and Procurement.  I have been working not only in Pakistan but Saudi Arabia both in public and private sectors having more than 12 years aggregate employment experience.  I am happy that both Engineering and Technology professions are equally recognized all over the world.  But unfortunately, Technology profession could not gain equal status in my country Pakistan as provided to Engineering profession due to professional jealousy of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).  I alongwith my other B.Tech Hons (new name B.Sc Engineering Technology) fellows, continuously struggling but PEC always come in front against us. Therefore career progression is blocked through out the country by PEC and their allies.  Unfortunately IET could also not establish its office at Pakistan and Pakistani IET members could not take full benefits from the IET till yet regarding career progression.  Please dont mind, these are the realities but still i and my fellows struggling and hoping for our good future soon, insha Allah.

    Thank you.
