The needle is into the orange......

  • yup, they've even had to find the matches and light the coal fire tonight. well it is a bit colder than yesterday I suppose.

good job the wind is blowing and we are not trying to phase out our use of gas (oh well.. ) solar is not so useful at this time of day...

A lady customer told me this morning in the gloom that her solar box had a red light on it. I don't know what that means do you?

  • The needle is into the orange..

Fortunately wind is supplying over 20% at the moment - so judging by the other dials we still have around 7GW of spare generating capacity from gas alone.

  • That's until we all have to charge our cars and vans at night: really don't know how that's gonna work!

Hopefully by then we'll have a combination of a little more generating capacity (not a huge amount, since we very rarely run what we already have at 100%) and a lot more cleverness in the timing of use of electricity - e.g. your EV will talk to the smart meter's home network to figure out the cheapest time (i.e. when there the most spare generating capacity) to charge your EV to the amount you require by the time you'll require it.

  • Let's hope so. It's good to hear an optimistic view. I worry the plan is there is no plan: a lot of people just may be priced out of owning cars, as a way of facilitating it for the rest.

Zoomy, if you send me a PM, I can let you know about ladies and red lights. ??

If it's the inverter, then a red light probably means it's gone wrong.

If it's the generation meter, it means that the inverter isn't generating.  This is quite normal at night, and maybe even in heavy snow too.

Thanks. I haven't visited yet. I am looking for my snow shows. She thought that the red light was connected to her house R.C.D. tripping off. But we narrowed that down to a faulty lighting circuit, which when the M.C.B. for that circuit was turned off, reset o.k.

I can see Chris that you haven't visited a certain area in Norwich (that I have been told about).
