For mapj1 #2

Thanks again Mike, got that now, exactly as you said, downloaded pic, wrote up short text, filled the 3 boxes, (I did wonder what they were for!), hit on the box with jagged edges/mountain scene. Hit update. Job done. Thanks again.

Regards, UKPN?

  • During the day, I Asked AJ Jewsbury for assistance to upload a document. But before Lisa Miles had moved it to

community support mapj1 noticed it and gave me a bit of guidance.

Sorry I missed that - hopefully Mike has put you on the right path. I tend not to have time to check all the other forums so it was lucky Mike spotted it when he did!

      - Andy.

  • Okay, the forum has been off line this afternoon and now its turned the same shade of purple as the 12-volt kitchen under cabinet LED kitchen lights did when I connected them to a 24-volt driver, just before they went up in smoke

I'm glad you said that - I was wondering if it was just me (or my laptop, or my browser...).

Some of the post ordering seems a little odd too - like in the Bonding of temporary metal fences at a Railway station platform thread Brian Kvedaras first reply seems to be listed first even though it was posted later than some of the others - and the ordering appears to be 'Date ^' (which I presume is meant to be date-time ascending). While Brian's reply is certainly outstanding, the ordering does make reading the rest of the thread rather awkward (reminiscent of the Two Ronnies - answering the question before last sketch). I guess someone has (entirely reasonably) marked it as a best answer or somesuch - but isn't there a better way of indicating that than messing with the "proper" order of things? To be fair I think I noticed this earlier on, so probably not directly due to the most recent (violet) upgrade.

Phew, I thought that one of the guns might have blown in my CRT. ?

  • I find the contrast is rather better though, I found blue on blue to be very hard. I assume this is an 'improve legibility /accessability' option and the thing that other folk call the 'hamburger menu' that you get instead of text when you make the browser magnification >125% is actually visible now, rather than point and hope.

"Blue on blue"! (I never did understand that military terminology, but perhaps it has something to do with radar screens.)

For me, this new lilac colour is less clear.

  • When the shouty folk say 'blue on blue' they usually mean their own folk have taken some action that unexpectedly knobbles their own sides capabities - the extreme being so called  'friendly fire', which is anything but. (or you blow up your own side's vehicle or bomb tne runway other chaps on your side wanted to use) In normal speak you might say 'to shoot oneself in the foot' perhaps. Green on blue is when someone who is not your own folk , but was supposed to be an ally or a neutral party does something that knobbles your capability, may even be a deliberate attack. The colours are probably based on the standardized military NATO symbols to indicate different forces on maps. Blue is used to show your own and friendly forces, red for hostile forces, green for neutral forces, and yellow for any group of unknown allegiance.

I however was alluding to the near invisible blue buttons we used to have. I think I probably have slightly non standard colour  perception anyway, over and above that bloke thing of not realising two black socks cannot be a pair as they are different colour, as my choices for colour settings for plotting and  CAD software etc often raise comments..

Doesn't  Frau Mapj1 select and lay out your socks ready for you,  every morning  - based on your previously advised footwear choice for the day  - whilst you are performing ablutions ?

    ?

Glad it's not just me then - the purple mood had me wondering what I'd managed to b***** up

  • This purple is the new corporate (branding) colour and seems to appear on everything.  I can't say that I like it.

(I wonder how much the change cost.)

  • Meine Leibe Frau is not always around when I am hopping about with one foot ensocked and the other bare, cursing random hard items like pencils and notepads left on the carpet,  as she is gainfully employed (*) and often is out the door and whizzing up the M3  on her motorbike in the best leather clad German tradition, while I am still making vital life influencing decisions like 'cornflakes or weetabix today ?' and  'why are these stability circles non-circular ? '  Equally I often go to bed later as if I have a problem to solve I like to think in the calm of the early AM..

She does however insist on chittering at me and re-pairing my socks from time to time.

( * as am I, but not in the same place, that would be a security risk.)
