Projector Lamp. Lamp holder.

Hello All,

I am repairing some old disco lights that use tungsten halogen projector lamps. The rating is 24 Volt 250 Watt.  A1/259 GX5.3 type. I can obtain new lamp holders for these where the originals have burnt out but they are rated at just 100 Watt only. Where can I obtain 250 Watt rated lamp holders please? Some lamp holders offered on fleabay are described as being 250 Watt but upon close inspection they are stamped 100 Watt.

Thanks,

Z.

Are you planning an end of lockdown rave, Z ?

    OMS
  • The only bulb data I can find here suggests very short lifetime (50 hrs) for these sort of  higher wattage bulbs. I presume they are under-run if they are being pulsed in time to the music or whatever.

I understand  the modern way is to flash high powered LEDs  instead..
  • You guessed it OMS. Big release parties are planned.

Yep, very short life lamps. But if fan cooled and under run they are great. They also heat up the village hall on a cold night before the dancing starts. The Optikinetics oil wheel projector needs a warm bulb to make the oil move in the "oil wheel" for a Barbarella psychedelic "way out man" effect. Also the children of this age like the old lighting effects for their trance raves.

I don't like the new laser disco party lights. Too much chance of potential eye damage.

It is surprising that the G.E. 4515 lamps are still available (6.3V 30W).. The type with the parallel beam like  a searchlight.

I do have some modern L.E.D. disco lights but some effects are not possible with L.E.D.s.

I must dust off the old rope light.
