How Do We Cool The Tube?
The IET Railway TPN had the pleasure of introducing Sharon Duffy, Head of Station Systems Engineering, LU Crossrail and Stations, to an audience at IET London: Savoy Place to hear about how LU are looking to Cool the Tube. The Cooling the Tube programme was established in 2005 to mitigate the problem of increasing temperatures across the London Underground network, and to ensure the continued safe operation of trains. With plans for line upgrades and increased services through the introduction of new, faster trains that will use more energy and create more heat, there is a need to find effective methods of controlling temperatures.
