  • London Digital Security Centre Takes (LDSC) Over Chelsea FC.

    As part of Digital Leaders Cyber Resilience Week the London Digital Security Centre in partnership with The London Fraud Forum hosted a conference at Chelsea FC in London discussing how businesses in the digital age can adapt to secure their platforms. The sessions were extremely interactive and allowed discussion of trending themes in cyber security to be explored. Leaders and Chiefs talked about how lack of ownership of risks can lead to embarrassing situations during times of compromise. It was also discussed that almost 50% of all crimes reported in the UK are now digital crimes as most people are living their lives online.     The following is a review of the "ARM - an introduction to its Business Model and IP creation process" Event held on Thursday 5th October 2017 at UTC Reading The speaker was   Jon Black Principal Engineer Jon presented an excellent lecture on the history of Arm from the early days of the Acorn Archimides through to the large range of devices sold in the present day.   The figures presented showed just what ARM have achieved over its 25 year life.   In 2016 17 billion devices were shipped worldwide, ranging from ultra small low powered devices for the IoT (Internet of Things) market through to large scale clusters of processors used for server type applications.   In their 25 year history, 100 billion devices have been shipped by their many business partners.   • IET Singapore Network - Columbus Evening

    Columbus Evening, an evening of exploration, and finding new insight was held on 22 Sep 17 to mark the end of 16/17 session and at the same time to celebrate a new beginning from 1 Oct. this evening was a special one as we have our Singapore Network Incoming Chair Mr Jolyon Caplin leading the session to set the direction and the charter for the way ahead. The attendees were a mix of new, old and ex members. On top of the usual core team members, we have Alan Li, our PATW Singapore winner and also our newly appointed Young Professional - Scientific Outreach.   • AP Communities Volunteer Conference - Faraday Challenge

    At the recent Asia Pacific Communities Volunteer Conference we were lucky enough to have a presentation on the Faraday Challenge in Brunei, given by Huijin Onn.  The work the Brunei Local Network has been doing with this is truly impressive.  Even better, the ever-amazing Leon Ha videoed the presentation so I'm able to share it here with you.  I've also attached the slide set if you'd prefer to look through that .   • BLUE WHALE – A DEADLY THREAT TO TEENAGERS

    Due to easier access and lack of awareness among the parents, the internet is becoming lot more dangerous place than we can imagine. Each day, we get introduced to new threats online. The latest one is called the "Blue Whale Challenge%u201F which led to hundreds of suicides all around the world. This "game%u201F is designed by a Russian university-expelled psychologist with a motive to "clean up the world".  In this App, there are two types of people: curators/administrators, and players. Players – those who want to play the game are given each task each day. It starts from less-weird things like waking up 4:20 in the morning to self-harm like cutting a wrist and scratching your legs to draw whale on it.     Wow, you may say - that's a very personal question. To be honest I'm not interested in how many pairs of underwear you have, or which dress is your favourite... What I am interested in is whether you have any wearable technology in your wardrobe. You may be asking what is wearable technology? According to Wikipedia it's "smart electronic devices (electronic device with microcontrollers) that can be worn on the body as implants or accessories". So everyday examples are items like FitBits, Apple Watches and SnapChat Spectacles.  The market for wearable tech only seems to be getting bigger. According to an article in Forbes last year : 1.
