  • Hi all,

My name's Louise and I am a Software Engineer / Systems Engineer in Sheffield.

I'm just starting out in my career - I'm in my final year at university but already have a job from doing a placement year. I work making bespoke testing and measurement systems, predominantly doing software, but have been trying my hand at the systems engineering side as well.

I've only just joined IET and am interested in getting accredited and hopefully talking to other women - as I am the only one at my work!

    Hello Everyone,

I am Kim Norris, recent Aerospace Technology graduate from Coventry University, UK. I am currently working as a Systems Engineer at Selex-ES and am loving it. My current role is coordinating Environmental Testing.

Outside of the normal working life, I am an extremely active STEM Ambassador and have recently worked the Big Bang event, been to Durham University talking to Graduates and am working closely with Watford Girls Grammer School on the Go4SET Project. Additionally, I am a keen Ice Hockey player and Wakeboarder.

Feel free to get in touch with me. I am based in the Milton Keynes/Luton area.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

My name is Awai, and I'm currently in the third year of my PhD at the University of Manchester. My research focuses on the application of control theory to estimation of harmonics in power utilities. I would love to meet up and chat with anyone who is in Manchester. I would also love to connect with people who are interested in control systems and power networks.

    Regards,

    Awai
  • Hi

I am Jenny and I have recently joined the IET as Scholarships Coordinator at Michael Faraday House in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

This is a varied role and I am loving it!  The team I am working with are fantastic.

Until February 2014,  I was responsible for administering two MSc courses at Cranfield University in Bedfordshire and in a previous life I was an Academy Services Coordinator for North Hertfordshire College.  This involved running and being responsible for all the services that were brought into a College Campus. This involved anything from purchasing Hair & Beauty products for The Salon to organising Open Evening events.

During my time at the College I invested heavily in training and gaining qualifications.

I live in Hitchin and would be glad to meet up with people for coffee or walks at the weekends.
  • Hello! I am Engineering student from Durham Univeristy and in September will be starting as a Graduate Engineer in the Power Business Unit at Parsons Brinckerhoff, Newcastle upon Tyne. As a new member of the IET it would be great to meet other female engineers in the Newcastle area also working towards chartership and anyone who could offer tips and advice! Message me if you want to meet up. Looking forward to chatting ~ Sarah

  • Shiva Dowlatshahi:

I am Shiva, an Electrical Engineer working in the Energy sector.

I have about 11 years of experience as a substation secondary design engineer. I live in Newcastle upon Tyne and work for Siemens T&D Ltd. I'm also a council member of Women's Engineering Society.

It would be nice to meet up with ladies living in the North East for some tea and chat.

    Shiva

    Hi Shiva,

If you're still living in Newcastle maybe we could meet up for a chat when I move to Newcastle later this year. It would be lovely to meet you.

Hello everyone! I'm Liliana and I'm an Electrical Engineer working for Babcock's rail division. It is great to join this community and looking forward to be fully engaged in activities and networking sessions we might have. At the moment I'm working in the Crewe area, so if anyone wants to meet for a chat let me know.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Liliana,

I'm not in Crewe but I'm also an electrical engineer working in the rail industry. There aren't many of us! Might be nice to keep in touch :-)

    Hi all,

My name is Maxine. I'm a Service Engineer working for Rolls Royce in Bristol. I completed my apprenticeship with the company in December last year and have been in my role since January of this year.

It would be nice to meet other ladies working in the area and possibly meet for coffee and chats.

During my apprenticeship I helped out with a few community events to encourage young people into engineering and recently went to the Women in Science and Engineering event in Manchester organised by SEMTA, TUC and Unite. If anyone knows of any other events (they don't have to be specific to aerospace engineering) that I could get involved in please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Max cheeky
  • Hi,

I am Jenna and have recently become a member if the IET.

I started my apprenticeship in 2000 at Fiddlers Ferry Power Station and became a qualified Control and Instrumentation Craftsman in 2004. I moved to Drax Power Station after my apprenticeship and became a Technician in 2009 after 4 years on the tools and completed a part time degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.

I am currently still a technician and working towards my application for IEng. I have a 2 year old daughter and am about to go on maternity leave with my 2nd baby.

I work a 3 day week which can prove difficult managing a career with a young family, but is so worth the hard work.
