Wylex REC2SPD

That’s a Hager consumer unit with a preinstalled SPD I installed last year.

This is my REC 2 with SPD. I have not changed the switch, this is the one out of the box. Mine has bus bars you can see but covered in white plastic.

So how do the live and neutral busbars cross over?


Is the live busbar in the balcony terminal slots and the neutral in the cage terminal clamps?

This is getting the better of me.


That live busbar appears to be one of the Wylex pin type busbars in the balcony slots, so surely that means that the pins are only secured under one side of the terminal screw head, which in my mind would potentially twist the terminals by putting undue strain on one side of them, also I presume there’s bare copper exposed on the top of the busbar under neutral screw head, presumably there’s a few millimetres clearance?

Are those actually dedicated busbars made for the job or a pair of these with a pin chopped off?

The correct busbar for use in the slots is similar to this, which is why wiring the connections using fork crimps appears the correct way to do it:

lets hope it is made like a 2 pole version of those 3 phase busbars where only every third pin is connected to each other.

Anythin else would have potential to be lethal,  or one of them needs to share the main holes with the incoming tails
