Recruitment of Mentors for Mentorship Programme with The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

The Institution of Engineering and Technology Hong Kong (IET Hong Kong) have been establishing a Mentorship Programme for The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU-ISE) students. In this regard, we are now recruiting members to be mentors for industrial and systems engineering this year. As a mentor, Your role is to take care of 2-3 mentees through a variety of activities, such as visits, experience sharing sessions, etc. You are also requested to meet the mentees minimal 2 times during the Mentorship Programme. You will need to provide industrial advice. You are also required to share with them the challenging work and activities that they may encounter in future; you can also provide them with advice in their career development…

Jaguar Land Rover creating jobs

Jaguar Landrover have announced plans to create 1,300 new jobs at its Solihull plant so it can build the company's first Sports Utility Vehicle. Cross-Border Air Traffic Control Trial Cuts Holding Times At Heathrow

A trial led by NATS as part of the UK-Ireland FAB and in collaboration with FA and Heathrow Airport, to cut the amount of time aircraft spend circling in 'holding stacks' at Heathrow has started to reap rewards. Since April 2014, NATS has recorded a reduction of up to a minute in holding times for those flights under the trial, saving airlines £1million in fueld and 5,000 tonnes of CO2, in addition to reducing noise levels for those communities under the stacks. Forthcoming Aerospace Event - Key Technologies For Next Generation Aircraft

Keep a lookout for further details of a joint conference that the Aerospace TPN and Singapore Local Network are collaborating on which will be held in Singapore on 9-10 March 2015. The conference covering Key Technologies for Next Generation Aircraft will look at three main topic areas: Electric Generation and Usage on More Electric Aircraft Big Data Usage for more cost-effective operation Advances in Materials, Manufacturing and non-destructive testing solutions for Aerospace applications. What The ARTS TPN Got Up To In 2014

During 2014, the ARTS TPN had the opportunity to get involved and support a number of excellent activities: Road User Charging in UK, Europe and USA Seminar ibus System lecture in Bath – joint with Somerset & West Wiltshire Network Pete James the TPN Chairman gave a talk at a conference in Canada and presented a TPN award for Best Endeavour to the University of Ohio, Electric Motorcycle Racing team ‘Buckeye Current’. EVs and their Appetite for Power – this event was held in Milton Keynes joint with the Buckinghamshire Network and three speakers gave different perspectives on this topic. Toyota Open up Hydrogen Patents

Toyota is following the example made by Tesla in 2014, by freely sharing nearly 6,000 patents it owns which cover hydrogen fuel cell technology. The announcement came after its showcase of the Miraj hydrogen driven car at CES 2015 in Las Vegas. The portfolio of patents covers fuel cell stacks, high pressure hydrogen talks, software control systems and industrial processes in generating/supplying the gas. For the global Transportation and Logistics industry, more FDI outward investment from the US, Germany and the Netherlands, generates 40%, 13% and 5% of new projects, respectively. For inward FDI investment US, China and the UK, are attracting a respective 36%, 5% and 4% of projects. This investment provides logistic opportunities for courier business. This is what I researched a few years ago, now, the massive uptake of mobile devices demonstrates opportunity for new methods of business. Companies are now looking to focus on service satisfaction, beyond just click and collect, or dropping your shopping to local pick-up stations for collection. As you probably know, the internet now lives on lists and you can find a top 10 list for just about anything .
