    The IET’s Power Systems and Equipment Technology Network hosted a Smart Grids Poster Session in October 2013. The evening reception brought the community together to foster new collaborations, encourage multi-disciplinary interactions and showcase the latest developments in Smart Grids. The evening included 17 posters on Smart Grids. It would be greatly appreciated if you could please take about 10-15 minutes to respond to this questionnaire . This survey is part of a task led by TRL and in collaboration with VUB in a European research project to investigate the socio-economic impacts of WPT charging of electric vehicles and more specifically the social acceptance elements.     Joseph Baddeley awarded prize for Student Excellence

    Joseph Baddeley, a foundation degree engineering student from Birches Head has been awarded a certificate for student excellence and a cheque for £250.00 by the Institution of Engineering and Technology. After leaving school Joe studied at Stoke-on-Trent College and obtained a BTEC L3 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. After a period working for JCB he returned to college to study for a Foundation Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology and has passed with merit. Paul Bloor, course leader at Stoke-on-Trent College, said, “Joseph has put a lot of effort into his studies, is very well organised and respected by his peers.     The first IET Surrey network event of 2014 on the development of 5G mobility turned out a huge success for the capacity audience who braved a wet night to visit the University of Surrey on January 15. Feedback to the lecture by Prof Rahim Tafozolli, Director of the Centre for Communications Systems Research and the 5G Innovation centre at the University of Surrey received high praise for content and presentation. Prof Tafozolli explained the story behind the project, and underlined the importance of innovation in finding ways of coping with the rising levels of mobile communications.
